Return to the Homeland — Pillar 4
4. Returning to the Homeland – Connections
Objective: To facilitate and promote the return of Diaspora members to their homeland, either for business, cultural exchange, or permanent relocation.
Strategies:
- Returnee Integration Programs: Develop programs to assist returnees with reintegrating into African societies, including help with housing, employment, and navigating the cultural landscape. Offer language and cultural orientation classes.
- Real Estate and Investment Initiatives: Provide Diaspora members with opportunities to invest in and purchase real estate on the continent. Create a network of developers and agents who specialise in helping Diaspora returnees.
- Facilitating Business Ventures: Develop incubators and accelerators to support Diaspora entrepreneurs who wish to start businesses on the continent. This could include matching them with local partners, offering mentorship, and helping with legal and regulatory compliance.
- Cultural Exchange Programs: Organise regular cultural exchange programs to help strengthen the ties between Diaspora members and the local African communities. This could include art exhibitions, music festivals, and educational exchange programs.
Impact:
- Increased movement of Diaspora members back to Africa for business, investment, and cultural engagement.
- Enhanced economic and cultural collaboration between the Diaspora and African nations.
- Development of new business opportunities in local communities driven by Diaspora investment.
