Decolonisation — Pillar 1
1. Decolonisation - Dealing with the Propaganda Myths
Objective: To confront and dismantle the myths and stereotypes about Africa, its people, and its history through education, media, and awareness campaigns.
Strategies:
- Media & Content Creation: Develop platforms (websites, podcasts, YouTube channels, etc.) to share accurate historical narratives and untold stories about Africa's past and present. Collaborate with African historians, scholars, and cultural ambassadors to produce and distribute content that challenges colonial propaganda.
- Educational Programs: Develop online courses, webinars, and workshops focused on African history, decolonisation movements, and the impact of colonialism. This could be aimed at schools, universities, and the general public.
- Community Engagement: Create local and international events (conferences, film screenings, debates) to discuss decolonisation topics. Partner with local cultural institutions and museums to host exhibitions on African history.
Impact:
- Greater understanding and pride in African history and culture.
- Increased resistance to negative stereotypes and disinformation about Africa.
- Enhanced critical thinking within Diaspora communities.
